Power holds off Dixon to win dramatic race in Houston - Grand Prix of Houston Race 2 Review

Will Power kept a charging Scott Dixon at bay to win the second race of the Grand Prix of Houston whilst misfortune for Helio Castroneves meant that he lost the championship lead for the first time in 10 races.

The Australian led 51 laps en route to his second win of the season. Dixon's second place keeps the championship battle going into the final round in just under two weeks time.

Dixon's main championship rival Helio Castroneves' bad weekend continued. After being hampered by gearbox troubles yesterday, the Brazilian started from pole after qualifying was cancelled. It took just 11 laps for him to suffer more bad fortune as his gearbox leaked oil.

James Hinchcliffe redeemed himself from his disasterous Saturday to finish third whilst Justin Wilson's fourth placed finish all but ensured he'd finish the season in a personal best position. Sixth place for Simon Pagenaud means that he drops out of the championship running. He can still claim second though.

The race was action packed from start to finish, beginning with another aborted start and ending with a horrifying crash involving EJ Viso, Takuma Sato and Dario Franchitti - the four-time-champion launching into the catch fencing. 15 fans were reportedly treated on the scene for minor injuries whilst Franchitti was transported to a nearby hospital with what was said to be a sore neck and back.

The IZOD IndyCar Season moves onto Auto Club Speedway in California next for the season finale on October 19 where Scott Dixon and Helio Castroneves will battle for the championship crown.
