Andretti would consider customer car F1 entry

Mario Andretti has revealed that his son Michael would like to enter F1 should customer cars be allowed.

Speaking to ESPN, the 1978 World Champion said that he had spoken about it with his son.

"We've talked about it, he said 'If Ferrari would sell me a car, McLaren would sell me a car, Red Bull would sell me a car, we would be straight in".

The American believes that allowing customer cars once more would be a good way to drive down csts whilst attracting new entries.

Under current regulations all teams must construct their own cars, although customer cars have been allowed, and campaigned successfully in the past.

Currently Andretti Autosport competes in IndyCar, Indy Lights, Star Mazda and US F2000. They are set to compete in the new Formula E championship when it kicks off next year.
