Hyundai calls time on GRC programme

Hyundai have made the shock announcement that they will be withdrawing from all US motorsport with immediate effect.

Despite having their most successful season in Red Bull Global Rallycross this year, Hyundai are backing out of the series which they took two round wins in this year, including the series' first visit to Daytona in August, as well as three heat wins and two fastest qualifying efforts.

Speaking to the Rhys Millen Racing website, team boss and driver Rhys Millen said, "This is disappointing news to the team and myself as we proved we could win or produce the top 3 fastest times in each event at the last 6 rounds of competition."

"This came as a real shock after Hyundai Korea had invested so much into supporting the same style of racing in the World Rally Championship." "I am happy with what we achieved as a team and am thankful to those at Hyundai that supported the program and believed in Motorsports."

Both Hyundai Veloster Turbo Rallycross Supercars are now up for sale or rental to any privateer teams while the Red Bull GRC futures of Millen and team mate Emma Gilmour remain uncertain.
