'Promising' debut for Chilton despite issues

Max Chilton had a frustrating start to his IndyCar career in St. Petersburg last weekend, finishing the season-opening race in 17th place - the same position he qualified in the day before.

The 24-year-old struggled to get comfortable with his car's setup all weekend but had raced his way into the top ten before overheating hampered his chances.

"We were working our way forward and up to around P10 when we had an overheating problem," said the former-Formula One driver. "We had to make a long stop to clean out the radiator and get the temps back down, and then another final stop to address the same issue."

Despite the issues, the Indy Lights race winner believes his first IndyCar race had its positives.

"It looked like a very promising day from the start for the Gallagher team," said the Brit. "We were doing the same lap times as the majority of the cars around us."
